Ø Skin tone – if you’re buying for someone, you have to determine first that someone’s skin tone, which has two categories: cool or warm. NOTE: Check wrist for skin tone reference.
o Cool-toned skins are moderately fair to very fair.
o Warm-toned skins are dark to brown features.
Ø Metals – pick the right metal that compliments the skin.
o For cool-toned skins – white gold, platinum, silver. Stones in favor for these fair features include diamonds and pearls. Colors that further compliment are purples, greens, and blues.
o For warm-toned skins – gold, brass, pewter, copper. Stones in favor for its features are golden toned pearls and corrals. Colors include yellows, oranges, and browns.
Ø Face shape
o Diamond/Heart/Inverted Triangle-shaped faces
· for necklaces – chokers are a good option
· for earrings – drop or dangle earrings, as these lengthens facial features
o Oval-shaped faces
· for necklaces – long necklaces. If you have a long neck, then go for short necklaces.
· for earrings – dangle earrings that are angular
o Round/Triangular/Square-shaped faces
· for necklaces – chokers
· for earrings – round earrings
